Fred Keya
Founder & Managing Director
Fred Keya was born and raised in Moshi, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Growing up with Africa’s highest mountain always in view, he developed a deep connection with nature and the landscapes of northern Tanzania.
At the age of fourteen, Fred climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for the first time working as a porter. After several years on the mountain, he decided to study tourism and dedicate his life to sharing the beauty of Tanzania with travelers from around the world.
With many years of experience organizing private safaris, Fred founded Keya Africa Tours with a simple vision: to offer authentic, elegant, and personal safari experiences while creating opportunities for his local team.
Fred speaks English, German, and several local languages, allowing him to connect naturally with guests and ensure every journey feels welcoming and personal.
For Fred, a safari is not only about seeing wildlife it is about truly experiencing Africa and creating memories that stay with you long after the journey ends.
